ATASD is certified by Transport Canada as an inflatable boat, with the underside consisting of three inflatable pontoons and an air cushion system to reduce drag and enable amphibious operations. ATASD is able to operate in water of any depth as well as over smooth surfaces like ice and mud. The open deck plan permits easy loading and off-loading, with the seating for 6 taking minutes to install or remove. The deck can be arranged for passenger seating, cargo or a mixture of both, and has standing room for up to 9 people, plus the operator. Power is provided by a Ford Duratec automotive engine, driving one forward propulsion fan and two lift fans to charge the air cushion. The lightweight construction of the vehicle not only results in a generous payload capacity, but excellent fuel efficiency and range.
